As you are making a purchase decision, we suggest that you take the time to read some Roomba 560 vacuum reviews in order to see what other consumers have to say about the product. Here are some user reviews to help you make your shopping decision:

I have had my Roomba for about a year now. My husband got it for me as a birthday gift last year. I have two large dogs and a cat, so the hair in my house was out of control. The Roomba now saves me tons of time in cleaning. We have laminate floors, area rugs and tile. The Roomba does well on all of them, but cleans tile only so-so. I empty the Roomba every other day. This takes about a minute, way less time than I would spend sweeping and vacuuming myself. It has the scheduler so it does all of the cleaning while we are at work. It is nice to come home to a clean house! We purchased our Roomba from Bed Bath and Beyond for $379. When you first purchase your Roomba, go to the irobot website and they have a link for a free replacement filter and side brush in case you have any problems.

This is the best $300 I've ever spent.

It just plain and simple keeps the house cleaner than we would otherwise.

I love walking on the hardwood or vinyl floors and never feeling grit under my feet as if it's just been cleaned - it has. :)

As an engineer, I looked at this robotic vacuum with a lot of skepticism before buying. I figured that battery power would so greatly limit the suction that it wouldn't be effective. While it's true a roomba doesn't deep clean shag carpet like an upright, the sweepers on the unit do a great job on short pile area rugs and any hard flooring.

When they update these units with more smarts to better understand the paths they trace and perhaps incorporate a lithium battery, I'll buy the updated unit. Our house is somewhat long and narrow and rooms closer to the base station clearly get more attention than those further away.

Do expect you'll have to empty this unit fairly often if you have a pet. We have a small cat and we empty it at least 3 times a week. I don't mind cleaning the roomba at all. It's a thrill to see how much it has picked up and discard it. It's truly amazing how much dirt is getting generated with so few people in our household.

If there were more than 5 stars available for this product, I'd use all of them.

We thought the iRobot might work OK in open areas, but not under furniture and along walls. Well, that turned out NOT to be the case; it does a pretty good job everywhere. Perhaps even better on carpet than on hard floors, another unexpected bonus. However, with 2 houses, each with 2 living floors, only ONE iRobot was certainly not enough, so we have now purchased a second, identical unit for the 2nd home "Rosie" and "Robbie" are unfortunately separated, but we don't have to haul one of them back and forth.

Performs as advertised. Hasn't broken anything. Has not damaged itself in any way. Cleans 4 rooms and hallway on single charge in about 45 minutes. Yes, you have to clean it after each use, but that takes only about 7 minutes. Leave at least 6 feet of room on three sides of base to ensure it can manuver its way back before running out of juice. I think it does a better job than I would.

Yes, I do love this little thing. I can turn it on, sit back, and relax while it does all the work. It does really well if you have cats or dogs with their hair shedding. I use it daily for the cat hair. Here are some very MINOR downfalls:
Number 1: I have to be home when it is on, instead of using the pre-programmable cleaning schedule while I am gone at work. Why? Probably about 75% of the times I have used it, the little thing has gotten "caught" on something that it can not maneuver out of. It does shut itself down when that happens. Mostly it is the slipcovers that hang down over the sides of my couch - It seems like it get's caught on the cloth. But I am sure that I could address this by pulling up the slipcovers, if I wanted.
Number 2:It does require cleaning after each use. If you have as much cat hair (I have 3 indoor cats) as I have, you know how much cat hair can accumulate in the little thing each time.
Number 3: It really isn't all that quiet. Yes, you can still hear the television when it is on, but it is certainly not anywhere near as quiet as I thought it would be.
Number 4: It can not get into corners very well. It only gets to about 2 inches from the corner, then you have to go into the corner with a rag or other vacuum.

Even with the above 3 minor downfalls, I STILL HIGHLY RECOMMEND ROOMBA. To anyone who has allergies as I do, this little thing helps a lot. One great thing about it is that it gets under all your furniture that you normally would not do. I still love the little thing and am 100% happy I got it. I kinda wish I would have gotten the Scooba Roomba now, that washes the floor while it sweeps....

After reading all the other reviews I decided to wait at least 3 months to write mine. I have a 3 story place where the main living area is all one grand-room on the second floor, and aside from my teen's bedroom, this floor is all bamboo and tile. The other floors are full carpet and tile.

I primarily use the Roomba on the main floor and I simply just turn it on when I get home from work at night. Within 20 mins it has picked up all the dust and the plentiful cat-hair (and spare kibbles spilled from the cat's bowl). Every third day or so, I just pick the thing up and place it on the third floor to clean the master bedroom and bath, and sometimes take it down to the first to clean the guestroom.

I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS. You have to off course empty it after every use, but that is about a 40 to 1 return on investment in time. It will occasionally get cord-wrapped but only on skinny cords like headphones or windo-blind pull strings. It does not automatically doc well, but this is solely because I chose to have the dock in an inaccessable corner so as not to see the thing while it is parked. The few test runs I made with the dock being more "out in the open" worked fine.

Bottom line is you have to accomidate a few of it's needs but it will save you time, and if you have a hardwood floor--will keep the place clean and smooth.

All releatives get one for Xmas this year!

P.S. oh, and it annoys the cat -which is fine for me -- but rarely ever spills the water from the bowl.
